Hotel Lobby

If you wish to find a unique hotel in the heart of Knoxville's vibrant downtown, the Hotel St. Oliver can accommodate you. It's the perfect place to be for a relaxing overnight stay, or a week-end to take in downtown events or U.T. games. The hotel is located at historic Market Square, giving our guests an array of restaurants, outdoor cafes and shops to discover during their stay. Theaters, museums, Knoxville Convention Center and the University of Tennessee are all within walking distance.

As you enter the lobby you have a sense of its history, dating back to 1876, and a vision of beautiful décor, accented with antiques, period furniture, and appointments. The hotel's large library off the lobby provides a cozy and quiet retreat. It can also be reserved for private meetings and small parties.

The hotel's history began in 1876 when German immigrant Peter Kern had the building constructed to house his Kerns Bakery, an ice cream parlor, a confectionery and a grand ballroom. Kerns Bakery remains an integral part of Knoxville's business community, located not far from its original location. The building became a hotel in 1981 to accommodate visitors coming to the Worlds Fair, held in Knoxville the following year. The Kerns Building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The 24 beautiful guest rooms all have their own unique décor. From the smaller rooms to the grand suites, each has a wet bar with refrigerator and coffee service. All rooms have a full bath, T.V., and are soon to have high-speed internet.
